Throughout President Barack Obama's eight years in office he accomplished a lot. He is accredited with bringing an end to the United States recession. We saw a drastic change in the unemployment rate, falling down to 4.7% from the previous 10% in a period of just six years. His biggest accomplishment, which is the reason why he got elected was his tech savvy way of campaigning. Hillary Clinton used over 20,000 volunteers to aid her in her campaign in Texas, while Obama used a social networking site to gather over 104,000 Texans online. This site allowed for easy access to all that the future president would be doing during his campaign as well as bring in support for him.
Being it that Obama wasn't the first candidate to use social networks to campaign, the way that we did it was unseen. What he did was use MyBO database to get volunteers from different locations and task the with different things they could do to further his campaign. The volunteers would receive names, addresses and numbers of people in their region. When they receive this information, their task then is to get the people to go out and vote for him. The simple fact that there is a computer in pretty much every home in the U.S really came to Obamas advantage. Obamas electronic campaign will forever be a staple of how future presidents will campaign.
